Aether Currents and Mount Flight
Final Fantasy VIX added flight with the expansion Heavensward 3.0. This change allows players to take flight, and though at the start of this expansion mounts with the ability to fly were limited to specific mounts, you are now able to use all mounts but there is a catch. Before you can cruise the sky you must search every zone for aether currents. Later added in patch 5.3 you are now able to fly in a realm reborn zones upon the completion of all the 2.0 quest line (No Aether Currents).
You will be given a "Aether Compass" at the beginning of Heavensward that can be found in your "Collections" menu in game. The Aether compass can be added to your hot bar in game for easy access as you will be using it allot as you level up.
